Are you thinking about doing some digging around your new Charleston Lowcountry home? A new flower bed or maybe you'd like a nice privacy fence on your new home.  Well...... dig this....... DON'T DO IT...... not until you've called 811. You see that's the number for PUPS.  AKA Palmetto Utility Protection Service. It's Free! And it's the law.  There are hefty fines for damaging utilities. It's the responsibility of the contractor or home owner who is actually doing the digging. White- Proposed excavation

Pink-   Temporary Survey Markings

Red-    Electric Power Lines, cables, conduit, and lighting cables

Yellow- Gas,oil, steam, petroleum or gaseous materials

Orange- Communication, alarm or signal lines, cables or conduit

Blue-    Potable water

Purple- Reclaimed water, irrigation, and slurry lines

Green- sewers and drain lines
